Field trips run spring to fall. Some field trips are to working quarries where the rules and requirements are very strict and must be adhered to. Other field trips are to sites where all that is required is a decent pair of shoes and safe behavior. Some trips are even open to younger children.

Club members are also allowed on some trips hosted by other CCFMS clubs (Central Canadian Federation of Mineralogical Societies).
